The diamonds set on the shoulders represent the twelve states they drove through during their cross country trip, and the moment they started their new chapter in Boston. Carved after the last diamond is the exact spot where they shared their first kiss. The prongs honor her faith, inspired by the synagogue she grew up in. The four gemstones set on the inside represent major milestones and memories; the blue topaz is for when they first met, the diamond is for when he started to view her as his future wife, the red garnet is for when he moved in with her, and the last blue garnet is for when they were engaged in Portugal.
