Set on her engagement ring are a total of 13 diamonds for the 13 months they have been together before he proposes. The last 3 diamonds are marked off to represent an epic three day date they had early on in their relationship. The prongs are inspired by the Cattleya Labiata, the national flower of Brazil, where she is from. Set on the inside of her ring are four gemstones, a pink tourmaline for when they met outside of Flaming Saddles in New York City, a burgundy garnet for a moment at the airport which was important to him, when he started to view her as his future wife. Next, a green tourmaline for when he met her family in Porto Alegre, Brazil, where she is from. The final gemstone is yellow topaz for when he proposed to her. The gemstones are framed by a carving from Barcade in New York City, where they had a special date early on, as well as on their first year anniversary. At the center of the gemstones are the words “come what may” from the musical movie Moulin Rouge. This is a song which she asks him to sing to her. Carved on the side profile is a stuffed animal, Faroafa, which is important to both of them. She gave this stuffed animal to him and it represents “home” to them.
