This is a uniquely special piece to me because I can vividly recall sketching and presenting this while I was on my first trip to Davos. Looking out at the snow-capped mountains, it was easy to imagine how we would celebrate this Alaskan woman’s 40th birthday: by juxtaposing step-cut “icy” diamonds with blindingly fiery diamonds to create a wildly beautiful and striking look. In this way, the diamonds appear like ice and fire, floating on her skin. But look closely at these minimal, recessed diamond settings and you will see incredibly detailed carvings, each celebrating a time and place that they hold dear. The first reflects the New York City skyline, where they first met and lived. The second is the Forte del Marmi Bridge in Tuscany, where he proposed. The third reflects the Alaskan Glaciers, honoring her hometown. Next, we travel to the majestic Rambagh Palace on Jaipur (one of my own personal favorite buildings in the world). We end of a specific bridge in Paris, once of her favorite spots in her favorite city.
